We celebrated Christmas with my family on Sunday morning. For months, I have been teased with the secret that my gift is the best of all gifts.
And so it was.
In October, my parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary by hiking a mountain in a National Park in California. Please excuse me that I cannot remember either the mountain or the National Park. These trips are frequent for them. They are also some of the most memorable experiences of my childhood.
My parents stopped in a small town named Cambria, where they found a town of treasures. It is here that they purchased the most perfect gift I have ever received. They found a vintage typewriter, then carried it along with them for the entirety of their anniversary trip.
I still have the hiking boots that carried me to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, twice. Once from the South Rim. A second time from the North Rim. They carried me through Yellowstone, Arches, Zion, Bryce, the Rockies, and many more National Parks. These boots created memories that will stay with me always.
I look forward to the same powerful experiences as I embark on a different kind of adventure with my typewriter.
